Force International are pleased to be involved in an initiative to integrate middle-ranking women officers into operational command positions within the Albania State Police. Bespoke training was designed and in July 2015, leadership and operational command training was delivered to the first women officers who chose to take part in the initiative. Five women completed this initial program resulting in the first female operational commander taking up a post in charge of a policing district in December of 2015.
In February 2016, Force International carried out a full review of the project on behalf of the Director-General of Albania State Police, producing a ‘lessons learned’ report which included recommendations for further development of the project. Subsequently, in 2016, a second iteration of the project was organised, this time open to 1st and 2nd line supervisors. A more extensive course was designed and delivered including both general leadership topics as well as operational command, twenty-eight women went through the 2016 program.
Force International CEO Jane Townsley continues to mentor and support several participants of the 2015 and 2016 programs.
